Plot

In the heart of Copenhagen, Kresten, a rising star in the corporate world, is swept up in his honeymoon with his boss's daughter. The bliss is cut short when he learns of his father's death, a revelation that forces him to confront not only his loss but also the rural roots and the mentally disabled brother, Rud, he's hidden from his new bride. Returning to the quaint, almost untouched family farm on a small Danish island, Kresten grapples with the burden of his past and the care his brother requires. Desperate, he places an ad in the local newspaper seeking help. The call is answered by Liva, a city-worn prostitute seeking refuge from a relentless anonymous psychopath's phone harassment and the financial pressures of her brother Bjarke's school fees. As Kresten's marital facade crumbles under the weight of his deception, and Liva's brother Bjarke finds himself expelled from school due to his unruly behavior, the unlikely quartet find themselves forming a unique bond. Their makeshift family, however, is soon tested by a wave of emotional conflict and erupting violence. In the stark tranquillity of the farm and amid the chaos of their intertwined lives, the question lingers - will this unconventional family, born of necessity and bound by shared struggles, survive the trials that life throws their way? In the shadows of their pasts, Kresten, Liva, Rud, and Bjarke grapple with the reality that escaping the past may not be as simple as they had hoped.
