Meridian (1990)

In the romantic heartland of Italy, two American art graduates, Gina and Catherine, find themselves entwined in a tale of gothic intrigue and mystic enchantment. Gina, an aspiring art restorer, is entrusted by a local priest to resurrect an old painting housed in an atmospheric gothic church. Beneath the layers of time, a hidden artwork whispers tales of a forgotten past. Simultaneously, Catherine, a castle heiress due to a childhood inheritance, finds herself returning to the stone-clad fortress of her youth, where only an aged nanny remains as a vestige of her past. Distracted by the allure of a traveling sideshow carnival, the young women invite the captivating performers to their castle. Amongst them, the enigmatic leader, a seemingly charming magician with a sinister secret, and his dwarf accomplice.
