Plot

Embark on a high-seas adventure with the hilariously hapless Lieutenant Quinton McHale and his band of military misfits in McHale's Navy, a feature-length comedy that breathes life into the classic television series. McHale (Ernest Borgnine) and his ragtag crew of the PT-73 find themselves in the South Pacific, cooking up a storm of laughter as they hatch a scheme to recreate the Australian Derby on a remote island. Their noble mission: to save a floundering orphanage. The plot thickens when their well-intentioned plan spectacularly backfires. They dive headfirst into a sea of debt, with McHale's bumbling second in command (Tim Conway) steering them further into financial calamity as his antics rack up thousands more in damages. Not to be sunk so easily, McHale and his men concoct another scheme to pay off their dues, turning their PT boat into a wild off-track betting parlor. However, their troubles are far from over. A horse they bought in their gambling spree unwittingly causes a Japanese sub to run aground, and they find themselves owing money to some disgruntled Marines. To top it all off, their fun-loving antics have caught the attention of the stern Captain Binghamton (Joe Flynn), who's wise to their shenanigans and itching to slap McHale with a court-martial. In McHale's Navy, every wave brings a fresh surge of comedy. So strap in for a nautical escapade that's sure to leave you buoyant with laughter.
