Maya Mayooram (1993)

In the bustling city of Bangalore, Nanda, played by Revathi, finds herself enamored with the charismatic and successful architect, Narendran, brought to life by Mohan Lal. Their love story, once blooming and beautiful, abruptly plummets into the abyss of despair when Narendran tragically falls to his death from a construction building. Nanda, enveloped by grief, accompanies his lifeless body back to his native Kerala. The veil of mourning lifts slightly when Nanda comes face to face with Narendran's identical twin, Krishnan Unni, also portrayed by Mohan Lal. In him, she sees a glimmer of her lost love, compelling her to question the reality of Narendran's death. This encounter, however, only tangles her in a web of emotional turmoil, especially when Narendran's parents propose a union between her and Unni. Unni, already smitten with his love Bhadra, portrayed by Shobana, finds himself trapped in a complex emotional vortex. Bhadra, unable to bear the pain of potential abandonment, attempts suicide, shaking the very foundations of Nanda and Unni's world. Haunted by the ghost of her lost love, and unwilling to burden those around her, Nanda decides to take her own life. In the realms of the supernatural, Narendran's spirit reveals his intentions to escort Nanda to the afterlife, implying their love transcends the boundaries of life and death. Unni, left bewildered, questions his own sanity as the audience is left with the chilling realization of Narendran's ghostly presence. This tale of love, loss and the supernatural is a poignant exploration of human emotions and the mysteries of life beyond death.
