In the heart of Colombia, a tale of desperation and survival unfolds in the life of María Álvarez, a spirited seventeen-year-old. Trapped in a monotonous existence as a rose packager in a small village, María struggles under the weight of an underpaid job, a fruitless relationship with her indolent boyfriend, Juan, and an unexpected pregnancy. Her life, already teetering on the edge of despair, takes a sharp turn when an altercation with her unjust boss leads to her dismissal. Now jobless and with a baby on the way, María finds herself cornered by her circumstances. This is when she stumbles upon a perilous proposition - to become a drug mule, smuggling illicit substances from the bustling city of Bogotá to the hardened streets of New York City. Thrust into the treacherous underbelly of the drug trade, María embarks on a dangerous journey, with sixty-two pellets of cocaine hidden in her stomach and a flicker of hope in her heart. But as she lands in the concrete jungle of New York, she quickly realizes that the reality is far from the promises made to her.
