Plot

In the pulsating heart of Maharashtra, unfolds the thrilling tale of Mankatha, centered on the life of Vinayak Mahadevan (Ajith), an audacious police officer. His career takes a nosedive after he helps a smuggler evade a police encounter, leading him to adopt a defiant lifestyle. He becomes enamored with Sanjana (Trisha), the captivating daughter of a notorious local kingpin, Arumuga Chettiyar (Jayaprakash), who wields immense power in the bustling city of Mumbai. Simultaneously, the unwavering and stalwart cop, Prithvi (Arjun), embarks on a relentless crusade to eradicate the rampant betting scandal plaguing the IPL cricket scene in Mumbai. As the plot thickens, Arumuga, using his influential underworld connections, plans to funnel an enormous cash sum of over Rs 500 crore, meant for betting, through his quaint old theatre. Caught in this high-stakes chess game is Sumanth (Vaibhav), a loyal henchman for Arumuga, who conspires to seize the colossal loot with the assistance of his friends Ganesh (Ashwin), the owner of a local bar, Mahanth (Mahanth), and Prem (Premji), an IIT graduate. Vinayak, spotting an opportunity, joins the fray. He promises to aid them in their audacious plan, with a vision to split the bounty equally. However, the plot spirals into chaos as they abscond with the cash, now pursued doggedly by both Arumuga and the police. Amidst this turmoil, Mahanth and Prem manage to slip away with the money. The spotlight now falls on Vinayak. A riveting face-off ensues between Vinayak and Prithvi, turning this game of cat and mouse into an exhilarating battle of wits and courage.
