Plot

Acclaimed actor Christopher Plummer brings to life the character of Flash, a grumpy old man with a penchant for classic films and a taste for alcohol. His unlikely counterpart, Cameron, is a fiery teenager whose penchant for rebellion leads him to steal a car, solely because of its resemblance to the infamous vehicle from Christine. Their paths intertwine in the dimly lit intimacy of a cinema house, bound by a shared love for rebellion and the magic of movies. When Cameron decides to plunge into a student film competition, he finds himself outmatched by his affluent competitors. However, he discovers an unlikely mentor in Flash, a retired Hollywood gaffer who stands as the last living crew member from the iconic film Citizen Kane. Drawn to Flash's experiences, Cameron ventures to the Motion Picture Residence for the Elderly, a haven for retired members of the film industry. An odd yet heartening camaraderie blossoms in this unconventional setting. With the help of Flash and his companions, Cameron embarks on the journey of crafting his film. This unique alliance does more than just assist him in his cinematic venture; it reshapes his life in ways he never imagined. Through the lens of a camera and the flicker of the silver screen, Man in the Chair provides a compelling tale of friendship, rebellion, and the transformative power of cinema.
