Plot

Unfolding amidst the cultural fervor of Spain's 1966, "Living is Easy with Eyes Closed" unravels the journey of Antonio, a charismatic high-school English/Latin teacher, whose soul beats to the rhythm of John Lennon's music. Driven by his admiration for the legendary Beatle, Antonio embarks on a pilgrimage across the sun-drenched landscapes of Almeria, his destination - a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with his hero. The journey, however, is not a solitary one. Antonio's path intertwines with the lives of two lost souls on the run: a 15-year-old boy, rebelling against the confinements of his stifling upper-middle-class upbringing, and a young woman in her twenties, a secret pregnancy weighing heavily on her heart, hitching rides to reconnect with her estranged mother. As their stories intertwine, their journey becomes a shared quest for understanding, acceptance, and the courage to face their personal battles. The title, "Living is Easy with Eyes Closed," echoes the poignant lyric from Lennon's masterpiece, "Strawberry Fields Forever," a song he crafted while in Almeria, serving as a poetic backdrop to their unfolding saga. Their journey, much like Lennon's lyrical universe, challenges the viewer to question, to dream, and to confront the harsh realities with open eyes, offering a vibrant, evocative exploration of life, love, and the power of music.
