The psychological methodology of Freud and Jung couldn't seem further apart, but this story tells the fascinating journey of how both men gave birth to the tool of psychoanalysis. Jung practically worships the elder Freud, and he's been employing his role model's talking technique while working with a particularly difficult patient. When he finally meets Freud, the relationship is understandably complicated. Freud's intense interpretation of family frames a relationship where one man clearly recognizes the other as both a successor and a threat. This blend of competition and camaraderie hits a boiling point when their opinions on psychoanalysis begin to diverge.
