Plot

In the heart of Sydney, Tracey Heart, a vibrant 32-year-old ex-heroin addict, grapples with the harsh realities of redemption, while managing a video rental shop. Four years clean, her ambitions extend beyond the aisles of VHS tapes - she dreams of owning a computer game shop next door and becoming a business partner to her boss. However, the ghosts of her past loom large, casting long shadows on her future as banks refuse her a loan due to her tainted history. Tracey's world is further complicated by the responsibilities she bears towards her family. She finds herself ensnared in a constant battle with her stepfather Lionel Dawson, a washed-out football star turned junkie, whose futile attempts at sobriety only serve to test her patience. Meanwhile, her mother Janelle lives in fear of her daughter's downfall, blaming the reappearance of Tracey's ex-boyfriend Jonny for it. Jonny's homecoming brings with it more than just old feelings - it stirs up a whirlwind of chaos that involves her brother Ray, who lost a leg in a car accident attributed to Jonny, and his shady dealings with Moss, the right-hand man of retired drug kingpin, Bradley 'The Jockey' Thompson. When Jonny convinces Tracey to step back into the dangerous world of drugs to raise money for her dream business, she finds herself inextricably entangled in Sydney's gritty underworld. As her dreams teeter on the brink of shattering, Tracey must navigate the labyrinth of deceit within her own life and the city's criminal underbelly. Before she can embrace the possibility of love and a future free of her past, she must confront the demons lurking in the shadows, ready to pull her back into the abyss. Little Fish is a gripping tale of resilience, love, and the fight for a second chance amidst the relentless tides of life.
