Plot

In a desperate bid for survival, young Kundan, bereft of employment and humbled by poverty, succumbs to stealing a loaf of bread to satiate the gnawing hunger of his ailing mother and niece, Radha. His actions, however, do not go unnoticed, leading to his apprehension and subsequent sentencing to a harsh two-year imprisonment. Inside the stark, unforgiving prison, the news of his mother's demise and Radha's continued plight reaches him, sparking futile escape attempts that only serve to lengthen his sentence to a chilling fourteen years. Upon his release, Kundan finds himself shadowed by his past, personified in the relentless pursuit of Inspector Sher Singh. His fortune takes a turn when he encounters the benevolent Gurudev, who offers him financial assistance, enabling him to find his footing in the community, who even propose him for the position of Mayor. As he settles into this new life, he reconnects with his ill niece, Radha, only to witness her passing, leaving behind a young daughter, Uma. Inspector Sher Singh's relentless hunt for Kundan resurfaces, forcing Kundan and Uma into a life on the lam. Years slip by, and Uma blossoms into a young woman, crossing paths with Amrit, a fervent participant of the freedom struggle against the British Raj. Amrit's rebellious activities draw the attention of the law, bringing Sher Singh to their doorstep once again. Kundan is left with a heartbreaking choice: to reclaim his freedom through flight or stand his ground against Sher Singh, ending his perpetual torment once and for all.
