Kickboxer (1989)

Karl Sloane works as the loyal corner-man for his brother, Eric. Eric takes an ill-advised fight booking in Thailand against a far superior opponent, the amoral Tong Po. During the bout, Tong Po viciously paralyzes Eric. Karl wants revenge and intends to learn Muay Thai kickboxing and challenge Tong Po. Few training camps believe Karl has a chance, so he gets turned down. Karl eventually meets an older, skilled master willing to train Karl Muay Thai, and Karl puts focused effort into his training and challenges Tong Po.
