Plot

In the thrilling world of high-stakes gambling, American playboy Barney Lincoln finds himself in a daring game of deception and intrigue. Independently wealthy, Barney's adventurous spirit leads him to devise an audacious scheme - marking the master printing plates of playing cards manufactured by the Geneva-based company, Kaleidoscope. With their cards known for an intricate kaleidoscope pattern on their backs, Barney's crafty maneuver allows him to amass significant winnings at various European casinos by reading the marked cards. His London-based girlfriend, Angel McGinnis, a woman with her own hidden agendas, accompanies Barney on this risky venture. Angel remains oblivious to Barney's secret strategy, only aware of his uncanny prowess at card games. However, Barney's antics do not go unnoticed by Scotland Yard. The law enforcement agency, aware of Barney's ploy, manipulates him into a precarious mission of their own. They aim to bankrupt Harry Dominion, a brutal global narcotics dealer who is sinking in debt while financing an undisclosed project. Dominion, the owner and operator of a renowned casino, becomes Barney's next target. Scotland Yard hopes that Barney's exceptional card-playing skills will drain Dominion of his funds at his most vulnerable state. Unwillingly conscripted, Barney has no choice but to play along, embarking on a thrilling escapade through the gambling dens of London and the Riviera. As Barney and Angel delve deeper into this high-stakes game, they risk their lives, especially if Dominion uncovers Barney's scheme. "Kaleidoscope" (1966) is a captivating blend of romantic comedy and suspense, set against the glamorous backdrop of European casinos. It tells the story of two amorous adventurers caught in a web of risk, romance, and ruthless ambition, painting a vivid picture of a world where fortune can change with the turn of a card.
