Plot

A paranoid frenzy of pedophilia accusations engulfs the tranquil town of Bakersfield, sparked by the exaggerated tales of abuse from two impressionable teenage girls. Driven by blind ambition, the justice officials, most notably within the prosecutor's office, contrive a sinister plot against the devoted parents, Scott and Brenda Kniffen. Their innocent, cherubic sons, Brian and Brandon, are subjected to relentless interrogations until they parrot the fabricated horrors, with the elder son succumbing to the illusion of truth. As the boys drift from one cold-hearted foster home to another, even their loving grandparents are denied custody, unwilling as they are to betray their own children. The scales of justice are cruelly unbalanced, the Kniffens' right to a fair defense is systematically crushed, condemning them to a chilling 12-year incarceration. The boys teeter on the brink of manhood when the prevailing political winds finally shift course. This film is a harrowing exploration of a family's resilience and the fight for truth in a system all too willing to ignore it.
