Plot

In the heart of New York, a gripping tale of unlikely friendship and spiraling chaos unfolds in the movie "Joe". Wealthy businessman Bill finds himself embroiled in a deadly confrontation after his daughter, lost to the clutches of the drug underworld, overdoses. His rage leads him to the doorstep of her drug-dealing lover where a violent argument results in the dealer's death. Wandering the city streets in a state of shock, Bill stumbles upon a local bar, seeking solace in its dimly lit corners. He encounters Joe, a drunken factory worker, bristling with hatred for anyone who is "different", particularly hippies and drug dealers whom he believes are rotting the fabric of society. As the evening wears on, Bill, driven by a strange compulsion, confesses his deadly act to Joe, only to retract his confession, claiming it was merely a tasteless joke. However, when the news of a drug dealer's brutal death breaks out, Joe pieces together the puzzle. Intrigued and admiring Bill's act, he reaches out, sparking a camaraderie rooted in shared disdain for those they perceive as social pariahs. As their friendship deepens, they decide to assemble a dinner with their wives, uncovering further commonalities in their worldviews. Simultaneously, Bill's daughter, freshly discharged from the hospital, stumbles upon her father's chilling confession and flees, her trust shattered. As fate would have it, Joe orchestrates a meeting with a group of hippies for an evening of debauchery, a party that spirals into a frenzied search for stolen drugs and a dead dealer's wallet. Armed with Joe's rifles, the newfound friends embark on a vengeful journey to an upstate commune, setting the stage for a climax that pushes the boundaries of their friendship and their sanity. In "Joe", a disturbing yet captivating exploration of societal disdain and personal demon unfolds, leaving viewers perched on the edge of their seats.
