In the year 1940, a distant echo of the war enveloping Europe reaches the sun-kissed, British-controlled Bahamas. Here, we meet Thomas Mann, a ruggedly charming American industrial artist and twice-divorced father. Amid the idyllic tranquillity, he navigates his life with a motley crew of friends; the hard-drinking Eddy, always one brawl away from trouble, Lil, a woman of the night, and Joseph, his boat's steadfast captain. The film unfurls in three gripping chapters, each illuminating a different facet of Tom's life. In "The Boys", we see Tom anticipating a summer with his three sons, whom he hasn't seen in four years.
