Imprint (2006)

In the murky shadows of 19th-century Japan, Christopher, a bold American journalist, finds himself drawn back into the haunting memories of a love he left behind. Riddled with guilt, he embarks on an obsessive quest for Komomo, the enchanting Japanese courtesan he vowed to return to yet cruelly abandoned years ago. His pursuit leads him to a sinister island, a forgotten netherworld dominated by human demons and fallen angels, where he stumbles upon a grotesquely deformed yet mysteriously captivating prostitute. Greeted by her eerie presence, he learns the heart-rending truth of his beloved Komomo's tragic fate. Drowning his sorrows in drink, he implores the disfigured harlot to unravel the tangled threads of her own existence. As she spins a chilling tale of extreme brutality and twisted retribution, Christopher is swept into the underbelly of a darkness he could never have imagined, a world where love is lost, promises are broken, and the past's imprint is indelibly etched into the present.
