Icarus (2017)

Bryan Fogel's experience as both a bicyclist and a filmmaker makes him an ideal choice for this piercing indictment of doping in the world of professional sports. And while his original intentions are to simply cover the performance gap in many fields of sports, the nature of his documentary changes when he comes across Russian scientist Grigory Rodchenkov. Rodchenkov reveals that professional doping is formally pursued on a state level. Behind it all is a potentially deadly conspiracy of government officials committed to bringing glory to their country and a cover-up that may have very well led to state-sanctioned murder.
