Plot

In the pulsating heart of theater, Milena, a budding actress, finds herself on the precipice of her dream role. However, the path to stardom is paved with disturbing games masterminded by the director, transforming her body into a coveted object of desire and ownership. As she delves deeper into her on-stage persona, the lines between rehearsals blur, plunging her into trance-like states that tether her to a ghastly world. Here, she is a captive, ensnared in the grim web of human trafficking where her exploitation is as much a reality as it is a nightmare. Tossed between conflicting realities, Milena struggles to discern the true world she inhabits. As the parallel universes begin to eclipse each other, their boundaries blur, leaving her adrift in a sea of confusion. Gabriel Grieco, following his foray into horror with 'Still Life', takes the directorial reins in this chilling narrative co-written with Sebastián Rotsein. Their unique blend of American Gothic themes with elements rooted in everyday horrors presents an edge-of-your-seat experience that is as thought-provoking as it is terrifying. "Hypersomnia" is a haunting tour-de-force, a sinister waltz between reality and illusion, exploring the underbelly of desire, possession, and the horrifying truth about human trafficking. It's a gripping journey that will leave viewers questioning the world they inhabit and the realities they perceive.
