Maddie Young is a writer who cannot hear or speak. She lives in an isolated house in the woods, and one night, as she cooks dinner and works on her book, she is being watched by someone. The man attacks Maddie's neighbor first, who is murdered as she bangs on the door of Maddie's house screaming for help, and then begins to taunt Maddie. She must find a way to outwit the killer in order to survive the night despite being unable to hear him or call for help.
