Plot

In the heartrending drama, Hope, we follow the lives of Anja (Andrea Bræin Hovig) and Tomas (Stellan Skarsgård), a couple deeply rooted in the arts of dance and theatre. Their domestic scene is a complex tapestry, woven with threads of a blended family - two young sons and an adolescent daughter from their union, along with two adult children from Tomas' previous marriage. After basking in the glory of a successful international ballet debut she directed, Anja returns home only to find Tomas absent, immersed in work - a bitter pill to swallow in her perspective. The shadows lengthen when Anja's doctor delivers a devastating blow - an untreatable tumor linked to the lung cancer she conquered just a year ago. A stalwart pillar in her family, Anja's been shouldering the load for her frequently absent, work-obsessed spouse, and now faces this terrifying prognosis with the same strength. She chooses to confide only in Tomas, her frustration simmering as her children remain blissfully unaware of her plight. Tomas' intermittent support provides brief respite in her tumultuous emotional landscape. As the following days unfold, the resilience of their bond is subjected to its most formidable trial yet.
