Plot

In the comedic whirlwind of "Hold That Baby!" (1949), we find Slip (Leo Gorcey) and Sach (Huntz Hall) mired in mischief and misadventure. After a calamitous incident that results in their dismissal from a laundry company, the duo convinces Louie (Bernard Gorcey) to transform the backroom of his Malt Shop into a functional laundromat. Their mundane routine of washing and folding is disrupted when they discover a baby secretively stashed amongst the linens. The child is the unsuspecting heir to a substantial fortune and the son of the distressed Laura Andrews (Anabel Shaw), who has abandoned him temporarily to shield him from her conniving aunts, Hope (Ida Moore) and Faith Andrews (Florence Auer). These manipulative aunts have orchestrated the commitment of Laura to a sanitarium, hoping to wrest control of the rich estate left to her son by their late brother. Unraveling the note left by Laura, Sach and Slip embark on a mission to protect the baby and ensure his rightful inheritance. Simultaneously, they must evade the sinister attentions of mobster "Bananas" Stewart (Gabriel Dell) and his lackey "Cherry Nose", who, lured by a hefty reward and an additional incentive to keep the baby hidden, are working for the aunts. Slip, however, senses the danger of this precarious arrangement and begins delving deeper into the twisted plot. As the machinations of the aunts and the mobsters intertwine, the boys are drawn into a comedic showdown to safeguard the baby and expose the aunts' devious plans. "Hold That Baby!" promises a riotous journey of laughter, suspense, and unexpected heroism.
