Plot

In the heart of the gritty 1950s, Gus Hilmer, a prosperous garage owner with weathered hands and a life of riches, falls head over heels for the dazzling showgirl, Julie. Despite the glaring age gap, their union stirs a tempest of emotions within Frankie, a young and charming mechanic Gus had taken under his wing. As the sparks of attraction fly between Julie and Frankie, they become entangled in a forbidden dance of desire, typical of a Hugo Haas masterpiece. Amidst this turbulent love triangle, Frankie crafts an automobile from the skeletal remains of discarded parts in Gus's junkyard. With this machine, he manages to lure Julie into a dark scheme that trails Gus down a desolate road, culminating in a chilling hit-and-run. The car, a symbol of their deadly secret, is then dismantled, erasing any trace of their crime. However, the plot thickens when Gus's twin brother, fresh from the shackles of prison, surfaces unexpectedly at the reading of the will. Inheriting half the ownership of the garage, he moves in, adding another layer of complexity to the twisted saga. Will he team up with his brother's widow, and will they turn the tables on Frankie? This tale of passion, betrayal, and revenge is far from the simplicity one might anticipate from the world of Hair-Shirt Hugo. "Hit and Run" whisks you away into a whirlwind of clandestine affairs and deadly schemes, where love and greed collide with devastating consequences. Will the surprising twists and turns unravel the truth or bury it deeper under the rust of old car parts? Only time will tell.
