Hide-Out (1934)

Caught amidst the thrill of a police chase, Jack 'Lucky' Wilson, a suave playboy turned racketeer, suffers a non-fatal gunshot wound. Pushing his limits, he drives to the brink of unconsciousness, finally collapsing on the outskirts of a secluded farm. The farm’s owner, Henry Miller, discovers Lucky and, unaware of his criminal past, assumes him to be an innocent victim of ruthless gangsters. Meanwhile, Tony Berrelli, Lucky's shrewd accomplice, seizes the opportunity and sends a mob-affiliated doctor to ensure his partner's swift recovery. He views the remote Miller farm as an ideal sanctuary from the relentless pursuit of the law. However, the quaint, pastoral life challenges Lucky's urbane sensibilities, until he crosses paths with the Miller's enchanting daughter, Pauline.
