Harry in Your Pocket (1973)

In the bustling city of Seattle, Ray, a novice with grand ambitions of mastering the art of pickpocketing, finds himself in over his head. His fortunes seem to change when he crosses paths with Harry, a seasoned "cannon" - an expert pickpocket - who arrives with his aging accomplice, Casey, a man entangled in the dizzying world of cocaine. Harry, seeking an apprentice, recognizes potential in Ray and his girlfriend Sandy, whom he met as one of Ray's unsuccessful marks. Harry sees in Sandy the perfect "stall" - a decoy to distract their marks - but she's reluctant to join unless Ray is also part of the deal. As Harry imparts his wisdom and skills to the pair, a complex triangle forms, strained by Harry's growing romantic interest in Sandy. All the while, Harry's cardinal rule echoes ominously: Harry never holds. Just as they keep one step ahead of the law by constantly shifting their base of operations, Ray begins to outgrow his role as Harry's protégé. He yearns to step out of the shadows as the quartet's fourth member and earn his stripes as a world-class cannon. This aspiration, however, clashes with Harry's grand vision and sets the stage for a tense game of loyalty and betrayal within the four-person crew. As alliances waver and tensions rise, the underbelly of Seattle has never seemed more perilous.
