In the playful fusion of comedy, crime, and cannabis that is Halloweed (2016), we follow the misadventures of Trent Modine and his whimsically eccentric stepbrother, Joey, as they seek refuge from their notorious lineage. Their father, a renowned serial killer, casts a long, grim shadow from which they desperately yearn to escape. Their sanctuary? Mooseheart, a small town famed for its high-grade marijuana and chilling tales of the Candy Corn Killer. Joey, ever the hapless stoner, stumbles through life in this weed wonderland, inviting trouble with every puff. The brothers' attempt at anonymity crumbles when their infamous family name inevitably surfaces, ensnaring them in an unexpected predicament. As if on cue, a sequence of hackneyed homicides begins to unfold within Mooseheart, coinciding eerily with their arrival. In this mirthful mystery, Trent and Joey are compelled to untangle the threads of these clichéd crimes, navigating a labyrinth of smoke and suspicion. Will they overcome their ill-fated heritage or succumb to the comedic chaos that follows them? Halloweed promises a pot-infused puzzle that keeps you guessing and giggling in equal measure.
