Plot

Gun Crazy introduces us to Bart Tare, a man whose fascination with firearms was born the moment he first held a gun. This obsession leads him down a troubled path, landing him in a reform school for theft and branding him an expert marksman. A tragic incident involving a chicken establishes his vow against taking life, a promise that haunts him in the years to come. Following his service in World War II, Bart finds himself drawn back to his mountain hometown of Cashville. A chance encounter at a local carnival introduces him to the sharp-shooting queen, Annie Laurie Starr. Their mutual obsession with guns sparks a connection that soon blossoms into marriage. However, Annie's thirst for luxury and the high life cloaks a darker side. She convinces Bart to join her on a thrilling journey through the West, orchestrating a series of daring robberies. Although Bart remains true to his vow, never using his gun to kill, he is drawn into a world of crime and chaos by the woman he loves. The couple's spree of heists escalates into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, with lawmen hot on their trail. A particularly audacious payroll robbery intensifies the manhunt, forcing them to seek refuge in the home of Bart's sister. But their past catches up to them, leading two of Bart's childhood friends, now deputized, to join the relentless pursuit. Gun Crazy is a mesmerizing tale of passion, crime, and moral dilemmas, where love and an insatiable desire for thrill pull a man towards an abyss of ruin. This is the story of Bart Tare, a man torn between his love for a woman, his obsession with guns, and the promise he made to himself.
