Plot

Estelle, a fiery, indomitable force of nature, marches to the beat of her own drum, protesting grocery prices, upbraiding construction workers for their uncouth behavior, and never compromising her principles, not even for her son's wedding. She carries an unwavering affection for the films of Garbo, an affection that turns into a fervent wish when she discovers she has a terminal brain tumor with only six months to live. Her one final desire? To meet the enigmatic screen siren herself, Garbo. Enter Gilbert, Estelle's ever-dutiful son, an unassuming accountant in the bustling heart of Manhattan, ironically named after Garbo's co-star. He finds himself embarking on an unconventional quest to fulfill his mother's dream. Aided by a hired paparazzo, Gilbert delves into the elusive world of Garbo, staking out her residence, skirting the edges of her life as a food delivery man, tracing her footsteps to the tranquil shores of Fire Island, and finally, haunting the labyrinthine stalls of a Sixth Avenue flea market. As Gilbert's pursuit of Garbo intensifies, it begins to create a rift in his own life, estranging him from his wife. In the midst of his quest, he crosses paths with a struggling actress, a meeting that sparks an unexpected connection. The question remains, will he be able to find Garbo? And if he does, will the legendary actress break her silence? This journey of hope and obsession serves as the heart of this tale, painting a captivating portrait of devotion, human connection, and the indomitable spirit of a woman's final wish.
