Plot

In the bustling heart of San Francisco, we find Freebie and Bean, a pair of uniquely inept yet oddly complementary detectives hailing from the city's Intelligence Squad. United by their contrasting personalities, they share a resolute commitment to their long-standing investigation into the shady dealings of Red Meyers, a notorious racketeer. His web of connections spread wide, Meyers has, until now, remained untouchable. However, the tide begins to turn when the duo stumbles upon their first tangible piece of evidence, courtesy of Harry Motley, a lowlife with insider knowledge, now mysteriously missing. The plot thickens when word reaches them of a contract on Meyers' life, the cold-hearted hitman known only as Michigan Phil poised to strike. The detectives find themselves in a peculiar predicament: they must protect the very man they've been chasing for months. The district attorney, more concerned with his own reputation than justice, suggests they keep Meyers alive till Motley resurfaces. Freebie and Bean must now shadow Meyers, ensuring his survival amidst the chaos of the Super Bowl weekend gripping the city. While they navigate the perilous task of protecting their own suspect, personal issues begin to emerge, particularly for Bean, who grapples with growing suspicions of his wife's infidelity. Freebie and Bean must reconcile the professional with the personal, all while trying to outmaneuver hitmen, keep Meyers alive, and finally bring him and Motley to justice. The gritty reality of San Francisco's underbelly provides the backdrop to this thrilling tale of intrigue, deception, and unexpected alliances.
