Plot

In the harsh year of 1501, amidst the ominous shadow of the black plague that threatens Western Europe, a ragtag army of unyielding peasants-turned-mercenaries, led by the uncompromising Martin (Rutger Hauer), ally with the noble Arnolfini (Fernando Hilbeck). Their quest: to reclaim Arnolfini's usurped castle in return for a lavish reward. Yet, the noble's treachery emerges as he betrays his promise, igniting flames of vengeance within the band. In the throes of merciless warfare and the relentless plague, the mercenaries retaliate by seizing a caravan under the command of Arnolfini and his apprentice son, Steven (Tom Burlinson). Among the spoils, they inadvertently capture Steven's betrothed, the courageous Agnes (Jennifer Jason Leigh). Her life takes a dark turn as she becomes a captive, then a victim, and finally, the lover of Martin. Fueled by their triumph, the mercenary band advances to invade a castle, a fortress of stone and secrets. Unbeknownst to them, the wrath of Arnolfini's army is hot on their trail, eager to exact retribution. As the mercenaries fortify themselves within the castle's cold walls, they must face the looming storm of retribution and their grim fate, their story woven into the fabric of a land ravaged by disease and conflict. The tale of 'Flesh + Blood' unravels, painting a vivid picture of survival, betrayal, and the relentless pursuit of revenge in a world teetering on the precipice of destruction.
