In the heart of the U.S., Ann Fenwick unwittingly becomes a witness to a thrilling bank heist led by the nefarious Trigger and his accomplice, Leon. In the ensuing chaos, the bandits seize Ann, vanishing without a trace and resulting in a warrant for her arrest as a key witness. The cunning robbers, with Ann and their ill-gotten gains in tow, make a daring escape across the border into the vast wilderness of Canada, commandeering a trailer as their hideout. However, fate intervenes, the trailer's hitch snaps, and it dives into a frigid lake. In the nick of time, the valiant Sergeant Renfrew and the dependable Constable Kelly of the Canadian Mounties embark on a daring rescue, pulling Ann from the watery depths. Feigning innocence, Ann introduces herself under a pseudonym as a simple tourist caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. As Constable Kelly leaves to fetch reinforcement, Ann seizes the opportunity to flee, her true identity soon revealed in Kelly's return. Cardigan, the criminal mastermind behind the heist, dispatches his gang to recover both Ann and the submerged loot, which unbeknownst to them, Ann cunningly stashed in a secluded trapper's cabin. As Trigger recaptures Ann, the gallant Sergeant Renfrew charges headlong into danger, only to find himself ensnared alongside her. But all hope isn't lost, as the unwavering Constable Kelly lurks in the shadows of the woods, ready to strike.
