Dante's Peak (1997)

Dante’s Peak is a natural disaster story of a volcano that erupts near a small, idyllic town. A volcanologist arrives in the town and along with the Mayor tries to convince the other volcanologists and townspeople that Dante’s Peak, a nearby volcano, may erupt soon. They recommend evacuating the town, but few people believe there is a problem and the tourist season is very lucrative for the town. Finally, without further warning, the volcano starts to spew fire and melt the ground. There is a mad rush of people trying to get away. The chaos is complete when the full eruption begins.
