In the heart of the 90s, Prashant Kumar, an orchestra singer affectionately known as 'Fanney Khan', idolizes legendary singer Mohammad Rafi, but fate denies him a shot at musical stardom. Upon the birth of his daughter, he christens her 'Lata', a tribute to the iconic Lata Mangeshkar, vowing to nurture her into a renowned singer. As years pass, Lata's dream of gracing the music stage burgeons, but her weight becomes an object of ridicule and criticism. Prashant, now a humble worker in a small factory, sees his world crumble when the factory closes, jeopardizing his dreams for Lata's singing career. Undeterred, he takes up a job as a taxi driver, a secret he guards closely. In a twist of fate, celebrated singer Baby Singh hires his taxi. Seeing an opportunity, Prashant, driven by desperation and ambition for Lata, abducts Baby Singh. In the confines of his deserted factory, he finds support in his friend Adir. Together, they contact Baby's manager, Karan Kakkad, demanding a ransom.
