Life seems to be a streak of wins for Noah McManus, the savvy Chief of Staff and campaign head for Boston's stalwart Mayor Christine Grantt. With a promising new job lined up with Senator William Hayden in the political heart of Washington DC, and a marriage proposal accepted by his long-time girlfriend, Wendy Greenhill, Noah is on cloud nine. However, his perfect world unravels almost as quickly as it had come together. His new dream job evaporates after a scandal involving the Senator and illicit campaign contributions. Simultaneously, his relationship with Wendy crumbles under the revelation that her love for him was more about the prospect of matrimony than him. Crushed and disoriented, Noah decides to retreat to the serene Cape Cod country inn, the Landing Inn, where he had planned to propose to Wendy, and where the engagement ring awaits. This quaint inn in the small town of Harpswell, operated by Sam and Lillian Peabody, becomes Noah's unexpected sanctuary. As he becomes intertwined with the lives of the townsfolk, Noah finds himself drawn into the local election for town manager. The leading candidate, Randall Henderson, a shrewd developer, threatens to destroy a pristine piece of Harpswell with a strip mall, purely for personal gain. Soft-spoken Sam, the inn's owner, stands as the only voice of opposition to Randall's plans, despite his lack of political know-how. Noah, finding solace in the simplicity of Harpswell and the charm of local bookstore owner Hailey Caldwell, finds himself facing a choice. Should he return to his tumultuous life in Boston and help salvage Mayor Grant's failing campaign, as his old friend Elliot Larkin urges? Or should he stay, fight for Harpswell's charming idyll, and possibly find a new life and love in this quaint town? As Noah navigates this crossroads, he must decide whether his future lies amidst the high-stakes chaos of city politics or the quiet simplicity of small-town life, where his heart seems to be increasingly anchored.
