Plot

In the gripping 2010 film "Fair is Fair," Constant, a man bearing the burden of his past, escapes the cold, unforgiving bars of prison. Pursued relentlessly by the law, he seeks refuge in the skeletal remains of an abandoned barge, nestled near an isolated village by the canal. The villagers, unaccustomed to the stir of unfamiliar faces, soon find themselves as curious sentinels of the canal banks. Among them is Jeanne, a woman trapped in the relentless undertow of grief since her husband's death, and Silvia, her adopted daughter, a pianist whose dreams of Parisian grandeur are tethered to her impending inheritance. On the sidelines, the neighbors, once the life and soul of the barge in its glory days, watch the unfolding drama - Horace and his daughter Mauricette, Victor and Martha, Eric and Vincent, and the ever-watchful Melchior, the dog. However, in this tranquil village, not all is as it seems. One woman, recognizing the fugitive Constant, strikes a chilling bargain - her silence for his commitment to a deadly deed. Yet, as the dark undercurrents of human nature are exposed, it becomes clear that nothing ever unfurls as planned. "Fair is Fair" is a tangled web of secrets and promises, where the price of silence is steep, and the echoes of one's past are never truly silenced.
