Plot

In the glimmering haze of Los Angeles lies the strained fourteen-year marriage of Richard and Maria Forst, two upper-middle-class individuals whose matrimonial bond appears more like shattered glass rather than a seamless unity. Their conversations have become a symphony of silence, each painfully aware of the other's unhappiness, yet choosing to cloak it in the mundane. The announcement of Richard's desire for divorce, however, sends shockwaves through their seemingly placid existence. Richard seeks solace in the arms of Jeannie Rapp, a captivating escort whose allure has ensnared him in a web of possible love. Jeannie, a woman who shies away from friendship, becomes his sanctuary from the wreckage of his marriage. As Richard ventures into this unfamiliar terrain, Maria finds herself in the neon-lit world of a local go-go club with her trio of married friends, each battling their own marital torments. The evening turns interesting when they cross paths with Chet, a charismatic young man from Detroit, who is invited back to the Forst residence to continue the night's festivities. This unexpected guest becomes a catalyst, illuminating the truth about their individual lives for both Maria and Richard. Faces is a cinematic exploration into the lives of wealthy middle-aged individuals, unmasking the veneer of their seemingly perfect existence to expose a harsh reality - a life devoid of meaning. This evocative film captures the disillusionment of love and marriage, the yearning for something more, and the stark realization of the emptiness that can lurk beneath the surface of a polished facade.
