In the shadowy world of low-budget horror flicks, Rollie Tyler is a master of his craft, an artist who paints with smoke and mirrors rather than oil and canvas. Known for his uncanny ability to make the surreal appear real, his reputation is built on a portfolio of gory masterpieces such as "I Dismember Momma." This expertise in the art of special effects, or F/X, catches the eye of an unlikely employer—the FBI. Tasked with a peculiar job, he is to create an illusion so convincing it blurs reality—stage the murder of a notorious gangster, poised to disappear into the labyrinth of the Witness Protection Program. Enticed by the challenge, Rollie steps into a world where life imitates art in the most dangerous of ways.
