The tale begins with customs agents discovering a macabre cargo - a cargo of human hair meant for extensions, and the lifeless body of a young, shaven-headed girl. As the autopsy unfolds, it's revealed that the girl was the victim of a dark organ trafficking ring, her body hollowed out in the pursuit of illicit profit.
This revelation does little to deter the morgue's night watchman, Yamazaki, whose sinister fascination with the corpse takes a disturbing turn. Yamazaki steals the body, and in the privacy of his room, he observes a peculiar phenomenon. Hair begins to sprout from the girl, not just from her scalp, but from every scar, every cavity where her organs were once housed.
In another part of town, Yuko, a budding hairstylist, hones her skills on mannequins, dreaming of the day she can transform the tresses of real clients. Her world is disrupted when her sister forces her to care for her timid, abused eight-year-old daughter, Mami. A chance encounter brings Yamazaki and Mami into Yuko's salon. Struck by Yuko's beautiful hair, Yamazaki begins to sell the hair of his stolen corpse to local salons as extensions, with Yuko's workplace among them.
However, this is when the horror truly begins to unfurl. The extensions, imbued with the silent wrath of their original owner, strike out at those who wear them, transforming a symbol of beauty into a deadly curse. As the hair claims its victims, Yuko must unravel the mystery of these lethal extensions and protect her loved ones from their fatal grasp.
