Plot

In the heart of Hollywood's glimmering allure, Laurine Lynne, a once-famed movie actress, finds herself grappling with the swift ebb of her career's tide. Encouraged by her devoted agent, Joe Craig, and leaving a trail of unfulfilled love with polo champion Ricky Preston, she decides to escape her sorrow and rejuvenate her spirits in the grandeur of Europe. Accompanied by her sardonic maid, Trommy, Laurine luxuriates in a plush European hotel, where she crosses paths with an audacious waiter, who is none other than the enigmatic Prince Rupert Heinrich Franz von Rentzau, working under a veil of anonymity. Back in the glittering vortex of Hollywood, Laurine's nemesis, Sandra Drew, snatches the coveted role Laurine was eyeing, riding the wave of publicity from her marriage to nobility. Provoked by this development, Laurine orchestrates a marriage of convenience, ironically with Prince Rupert, seeking to leverage his noble title for her own professional gain. Their brief yet blissful honeymoon soon gives way to complications, leading Laurine back to the revitalized promise of her Hollywood career. As Laurine begins to reclaim her stardom at Associated Studios, an unexpected twist occurs. Prince Rupert arrives in Tinseltown, his extravagant spending habits turning Laurine's world upside down. Amidst the chaos of his lavish purchases, from a ritzy Rolls-Royce to dazzling jewelry, Laurine's frustration reaches a crescendo. However, the tide turns when Joe uncovers Prince Rupert's true character, revealing his noble deeds of depositing an equivalent sum of his spendings in Laurine's name. Overwhelmed by this revelation, Laurine discovers her genuine love for Prince Rupert, deciding to forsake her resurrected screen career to build a life with him. 'Expensive Husbands' is a romantic comedy that intricately weaves the glitz and glamour of Hollywood with the aristocratic charm of Europe, drawing us into a whirlwind of love, ambition, and revelation.
