Plot
Beneath the tranquil facade of an 1806 Swiss village, a tempestuous love story unfolds. Marcus, a man with a fiery spirit, and Ciglia, the pure-hearted niece of the local clergyman, are ensnared in a fervent romance. However, their love is thwarted when, in a drunken stupor during a village festivity, Marcus succumbs to the advances of the insistent Pia. Manipulating the situation, Pia coerces Marcus into a loveless marriage.
Devastated, Ciglia seeks to mend her broken heart by accepting the marriage proposal of her own persistent suitor, Lorenz. Yet, while their bodies belong to their respective spouses, their hearts remain undeniably intertwined. This unrequited longing fuels the embers of jealousy in Pia and Lorenz, casting a dark shadow over the village.
When Lorenz devises a scheme to banish Marcus from their peaceful hamlet permanently, the star-crossed relationship between Marcus and Ciglia appears to be heading towards an inevitable tragedy. The lovers' tale serves as a poignant reminder of the power of love, and its ability to both heal and hurt in equal measure.
