In the heart of Hollywood, amidst the glitz and glamour, live Paul and Mary Bland, a wine store clerk and a hospital nurse respectively. As straight-laced as they come, their lives are defined by a unique dream - to open a gourmet restaurant. But their aspiration is hindered by a lack of funds, sparing only Paul's cherished collection of wines, envisioned as the restaurant's future cellar. Their humdrum existence takes an unexpected turn when Mary fends off an attempted rape by a swinger who has mistakenly entered their apartment. Paul, coming to her rescue, inadvertently kills the man with a frying pan.
