Easy to Love (1934)

In a whirlpool of emotions and suspicion, Carol has the unsettling feeling that her husband, John, has cooled towards her, triggering a quest to uncover the truth behind his indifference. As her unease grows, she seeks counsel from the family doctor, Dr. Swope, before engaging a private investigator to delve deeper into her husband's enigma. Yet, it is Carol's own detective skills that prove to be the most effective. Craftily, she devises a strategy that involves Eric, a man who has long harbored feelings for her. They venture together to an apartment, but with a twist in her scheme, they mistakenly enter the wrong one. To Carol's shock, they discover her closest confidante, Charlotte, and her own husband John, hiding within a closet. John, in a display of audacity rather than wisdom, explodes in anger, accusing Carol of infidelity. The domestic strife intensifies when their daughter, Janet, disillusioned by her parents' turbulent relationship, decides to run away with her boyfriend, Paul, abandoning any notions of marriage. Determined not to let their mistakes shape their daughter's future, Carol and John follow the young couple to a hotel. Upon finding them in separate beds, John, armed with a fire-ax, demands a hasty wedding ceremony officiated by a justice of the peace. Thus, the story unfolds in a blend of comedy, drama, and unexpected twists, where love proves to be anything but 'Easy.'
