Plot

In the bustling heart of 1989 Tokyo, Lucy Fly, a guarded translator clad in MUJI, has spent half a decade desperately striving to assimilate into the Japanese culture. Her reticent facade hides a myriad of old scars, an enigma further deepened by the unsettling fact that death seems to follow in her wake - whether accidental or otherwise. When she crosses paths with the captivating yet equally tormented local photographer, Teiji, she finds herself irresistibly drawn to him, heedless of the cautionary signals flashing before her. As Lucy's carefully constructed exterior begins to fracture, an unexpected element arrives in the form of Lily Bridges, an American nurse. Lily's blatant sexual confidence and cultural naivety sharply contrast Lucy's discretion and cultural understanding. Soon, Lily gets entwined in Lucy and Teiji's complex lives, her presence stirring up a storm of unsettling impulses within Lucy. The situation spirals when Lily mysteriously disappears, leaving behind a chilling suspicion of her demise. As the threads of this intricate narrative unravel, the lives of Lucy, Teiji, and the missing Lily become ever more entwined, creating a haunting tableau of intrigue, passion, and dark secrets in this atmospheric thriller set against the backdrop of a city lost in translation.
