In the nostalgic era of the 1990s, the dying whispers of tape-cassettes echo amidst the emerging boom of CDs. Amidst this evolution of audio, we find Prem (Ayushmann Khurrana), a music aficionado with a heart brimming with dreams, running a tape recording shop in the picturesque town of Haridwar. Prem's dreams are simple - a beautiful, slim wife and the mastery of the English language, his personal Everest. Destiny, however, plays a different tune as he finds himself in an arranged marriage with Sandhya (Bhumi Pednekar), a vivacious woman whose zest for life is as abundant as her physique. Sandhya, a soon-to-be teacher with a penchant for dancing to her own wedding band's tunes, finds herself wedded to Prem, a man who perceives her more as a hurdle than a partner. As the newlyweds navigate the rocky terrain of their arranged marriage, Prem struggles to find balance, both on their shared scooter ride and in their contrasting life aspirations. The plot thickens when a unique race is announced in the town - one where husbands must carry their wives. Under familial pressure, Prem and Sandhya participate, setting off a cascade of events filled with love, music, and dance. As Prem grapples with his overbearing father, his fears of the English language, and his initial resentment for his wife, he discovers that Sandhya, his supposed obstacle, might just be the key to unlocking a life far cooler than he'd ever imagined.
