Plot

In the heart of Paris, Lolita, a gifted yet self-conscious singer in her 20s, yearns for recognition from her distant father, Étienne. An esteemed writer and publisher, Étienne is caught up in his own world of fame, oblivious to Lolita's musical talents and her growing resentment. Lolita's life is a chorus of voices, but the most deafening one is her own self-doubt, amplified by her struggle with weight and her father's neglect. When Sylvia, an ardent admirer of Étienne's work, offers to coach Lolita's choir for their upcoming concert, the dynamics of their lives entwine in an unexpected symphony. Sylvia, with dreams of her writer-husband's novel reaching Étienne, finds herself drawn into Lolita's world of unrequited affection and hidden talent. Meanwhile, Lolita is wary of the intentions of Sébastien, an aspiring journalist who might be more interested in her father's fame than her. Amidst these swirling emotions and secret ambitions, the night of the concert looms - a crescendo where music might just reveal the truth of their hearts. Look at Me (2004) is a gripping tale of self-acceptance, unfulfilled desires, and the power of art to communicate when words fall short. It navigates the labyrinth of human relationships, exploring the complex dynamics between parent and child, teacher and student, and the self and society. It's a rich tapestry of emotion and ambition, underscored by the transformative power of music.
