Plot

In the quaint, bustling hallways of a Utah high school, Nicole Maris reigns supreme. As a popular preppy senior, her life is a well-curated montage of perfection until her dream date, Brad, falls head over heels for a cheerleader from a rival school. A month away from the school's grand centennial prom, Nicole's reputation hangs in the balance. Meanwhile, living next door to Nicole is the school's notorious prankster, Chase Hammond. His world is as different from Nicole's as night is from day. Yet, they share a common thread of heartbreak. Chase, too, finds himself nursing a wound when his long-term girlfriend, Dulcie, eludes his grasp. As the impending prom looms, desperation brings these two unlikely allies together. They hatch a plan to mend their broken hearts and salvage their social standings. By pretending to be in a romantic entanglement, they aim to stir feelings of jealousy in the ones who got away. As Nicole attempts to mold Chase into her ideal partner, they embark on a journey of transformation and deceit. Their charade becomes an immersive dance leading up to the high-stakes school prom. However, as they wade through this intricate web of pretend love, the pair find themselves caught in an unexpected whirlwind. Their plan works, but not in the way they anticipated. As the music fades, Nicole and Chase discover that their scam might have conjured up more genuine emotions than they ever expected.
