Plot

Set against the nostalgic backdrop of the last week of 1959 in Baltimore, the lives of six childhood companions -- Eddie, Shrevie, Boogie, Billy, Fenwick, and Modell -- revolve around the magnetic hub of the Fells Point Diner. As the dawn of a new decade looms, they grapple with the realities of adulthood, testing the bonds of their enduring friendship. Eddie, a fervent Baltimore Colts devotee, finds himself on the brink of matrimony with Elyse. His unusual prerequisite for nuptial bliss is a Colts quiz, which his bride-to-be must ace. In his quest for marital guidance, he turns to Shrevie, the only other hitched member of their crew. However, Shrevie, a music-loving electronics salesman, is embroiled in his own marital turbulence. His wife, Beth, discontent and lost, contemplates an extramarital adventure, seeking the solace she fails to find at home. Boogie, the group's charismatic charmer, juggles his law school endeavors with his hairdressing gig and a risky flirtation with fast money, landing himself in a financial quagmire. Billy, Eddie's best man and a recent MBA graduate, returns home early, hoping to resolve the complexities of his relationship with his girlfriend, Barbara, who has an unexpected revelation. Fenwick, the group's cynical dropout, squanders his trust fund and his life, finding solace in the bottom of a bottle. Meanwhile, the diffident Modell struggles to assert his desires directly. As the clock ticks towards 1960, these steadfast companions must navigate the maze of life, love, and loyalty, learning that the journey to true adulthood is a shared one, best traversed in the comforting glow of their beloved diner.
