In the heart of seventies London, Karl Foyle and Paul Prentice were inseparable as schoolmates, bound by the ties of youth. Fast forward to the present, and their paths cross once more, but the world they knew is irrevocably changed. Karl has transitioned into Kim, a trans woman, meticulously crafting a new, orderly life, a life she'd rather not taint with ripples from her past. Yet, fate pulls them back together. Paul, a social catastrophe with a knack for drawing trouble like a moth to flame, is trapped in a thankless job. His charisma a stark contrast to his stagnant existence. As they navigate their way through a maze of clashing pasts and presents, an unexpected romance begins to bloom between them. One starlit night, Kim invites Paul to her flat for an intimate dinner, a delicate dance of seduction that leaves him reeling. Overwhelmed, Paul's reaction spirals out of control, leading to a public spectacle that lands him in the harsh spotlight of a courtroom.
