In the heart of Southall, England, Jaidev and Kavita Bhasin live a modest middle-class life with their son, Sunny. The Bhasin family's past is steeped in football fervor, their love for the sport epitomized by Jaidev's ardent support for the all-Asian Southall Football Club during the mid-80s. An era where the team's first-rate performance ignited a storm of envy among mainstream Caucasian teams, culminating in a brutal attack on Jaidev and the team's star player, Tony Singh. This turmoil marked the end of the victorious team, with the club's ground relegated to hosting weddings and birthday parties. Despite the club's downfall, Jaidev's dream for his son Sunny was clear - to play for Southall. However, Sunny, considering himself more British than Asian, proudly joined the rival Aston Football Club. When selection day dawned, Sunny's dreams were shattered as he was sidelined, his identity reduced to 'Paki'. Embittered and determined, he switched allegiance to his father's beloved Southall Club. Together with Captain Shaan Ali Khan and Coach Tony Singh, Sunny steered the team towards a string of victories, securing a coveted position in the semi-finals. However, on the brink of their crucial match against Gatwick, Sunny abandons Southall once again, lured by a more prestigious club's offer of a luxurious lifestyle. His sudden departure leaves Southall on the brink of extinction, vulnerable to the City Council Chair's plans to replace the cherished football ground with a shopping mall and theme park.
