Plot

In the heart of the South of France, amidst the ruins of a summer home - a poignant symbol of a marriage falling into decay - an English mother and her adolescent son find themselves grappling with the harsh realities of life over the course of a week. The son, standing on the precipice of manhood, is wrestling with the awakening of his sexuality and the expanding chasm of alienation from his mother. At the same time, the mother is forced to face the bitter truth that her marriage has become devoid of love, and the life she has meticulously constructed is rapidly unraveling before her eyes. The tranquility of their surroundings is disrupted when an enigmatic local boy saunters into their lives, stirring up a tempest of emotions and desires. His presence, as intriguing as it is unsettling, compels the mother and son to confront their individual yearnings and ultimately, each other. In this sun-drenched corner of France, they are drawn into a complex dance of confrontation and self-discovery that promises to change their lives forever. "Departure" paints a vivid tale of love, longing, and the unspoken complexities of human relationships, set against the breathtaking backdrop of a summer turning autumn in the South of France.
